Adjust the beat and timing
After choosing a beat, you can adjust its tempo and swing, Rec timing, and Pattern density. To start with, learning just Tap Tempo and Quantize is enough.
Change the beat tempo
- Press the lower dial to open the menu
- Go to
Music→Tempo→Change Tempo→Tap Tempo - Tap a pad several times at the tempo you want
- Confirm with
OK
On the Tap Tempo screen, you can adjust the tempo while listening to the beat. Returning with Back restores the Tempo from before you opened the screen.
Tempo Half / Double
These options are in the same Change Tempo menu.
Tempo Half: Halve the playback speedTempo Double: Double the playback speed
For audio beats, the pitch changes along with the speed. This is not pitch-preserving Time Stretch.
Add Swing
In Music → Tempo → Swing, choose 0 / 25 / 50 / 75 / 100%.
- 0%: Even timing
- Higher values: Offbeat notes are delayed, creating a swung rhythm
- 100%: A swing feel close to triplets
Start at 25% and increase it while listening to the beat and the performance recorded into Rec.
Set the Rec timing resolution
Quantize
Turning Rec → Quantize ON aligns slightly off-time pad input to the nearest Grid point. ON is recommended for beginners.
Note Grid
In Music → Tempo → Note Grid, choose 8 / 16 / 32 / 64 / 128.
- Smaller values: Coarser divisions that make it easier to keep the timing together
- Larger values: Finer divisions for recording more detailed performances
If you are unsure, use the default value of 32.
Edit a pattern beat
With a pattern beat selected, use BEAT + REC to play the 12 drum pads and add a new rhythm.
- Right after a mistake: Briefly press
Fn3for Undo - Delete only a specific pad: Hold
Fn3and press that pad - Clear the entire Pattern:
Beat→Pattern→Clear Pattern
In Beat → Select Kit, switch between Acoustic / Dance / Chiptune sounds without changing the Pattern.
Pattern Half / Double
Choose an option in Beat → Pattern.
Pattern Half: Halve the Pattern density without changing the TempoPattern Double: Double the Pattern density without changing the Tempo
The result differs from Tempo Half / Double.
Save the current performance as a new beat
To combine the beat and each part recorded into Rec into a single audio file, use Rec → Save as Beat.
- Make sure the Loop length has been finalized
- Select
Save as Beat - Wait for
BOUNCINGto finish
The WAV file is saved to the SD card with a name such as Beat_001.wav. The current beat and Rec data remain unchanged. You can later select the saved WAV as an audio beat.
Warning
Do not turn off the power or remove the SD card during Bouncing.
