Edit a sample

For each pad, you can adjust the playback range, volume, pitch, and playback behavior of a recorded or imported sample.

To start with, learning just Start / End, Volume, and Pitch is enough.

Open the Edit screen

  1. Stop the beat and Loop
  2. Select the SAMPLER part
  3. Select SOUND mode
  4. Press the pad you want to edit once for Preview
  5. Briefly press the same pad again

When the waveform and editing options appear, you are on the Edit screen.

Basic operation

  1. Press the pad for the setting you want to edit
  2. Turn the lower dial on the right to change the value
  3. Listen to the result with Fn1 Preview
  4. When you are done, finish with Fn2 OK

You can also close the screen with Fn3 EXIT. Use Fn2 OK when you want to make sure your changes are saved before finishing.

Start / End

Set the section of the sample that will play.

  • P9 Start: The point where playback starts
  • P10 End: The point where playback ends

Adjust with the dial

  1. Press P9 Start or P10 End
  2. Turn the lower dial
  3. Use Fn1 for Preview

If there is silence before a voice, move Start later. If there is extra space after the sound, move End earlier.

Set a point while listening

While listening to Preview with Fn1, press P9 Start or P10 End to set that playback position as the boundary.

Hold P9 or P10 to reset that boundary to the original edge of the sample.

Volume

Use P11 Vol to adjust the volume of that pad only.

  1. Press P11
  2. Turn the lower dial
  3. Use Fn1 to compare it with other samples

If the sound distorts, lower the Volume. Boosting a quiet sound too much also makes noise louder, so record it again if necessary.

Pitch

P12 Pitch changes the sample's pitch and playback speed.

  • Raise it: The sound becomes shorter and brighter
  • Lower it: The sound becomes longer and heavier

  • Press P12

  • Turn the lower dial in small steps
  • Check the result with Fn1
