Projects and Sample Kits

KANTAN Sampler offers Sample Kit for saving sounds and Project for saving a complete song setup.

Which should you save?

Project Sample Kit contents, beat, Rec, Loop length, Key / Scale, Bass / Melody / Chord, FX and Mixer An entire song in progress or live set

When in doubt, save a Project.

Save a Project

  1. Insert an SD card
  2. Press the lower dial to open the menu
  3. Go to Project → Save
  4. Choose a save method

The available options depend on the current state.

  • Update: overwrite the current Project
  • Copy: create a copy based on the current name
  • New: save a new Project named with a date/time or sequential number

For your first save, choose New.

Load a Project

  1. Go to Project → Load
  2. Select the Project to load
  3. Confirm with OK and wait for the process to finish

You can also select the built-in DISCO Beat Project at the top of the list.

Warning

Loading a Project replaces the current samples, beat, Rec and other settings. Save anything you want to keep first.

Save a Sample Kit

  1. Select the SAMPLER part
  2. Go to Sample → Save Sample Kit in the menu
  3. Choose a save method

  4. Update: overwrite the current Kit

  5. Copy: duplicate the current Kit
  6. New: save as a new Kit
  7. Save as Default: save as your own Default Kit for startup and Reset Kit

Saving a Sample Kit does not include the beat, Rec, Key / Scale or FX.

Load a Sample Kit

Select one under Sample → Load Sample Kit. This replaces the current 12 pads and editing settings but keeps the beat and Rec.

New Kit and Reset Kit

  • New Kit: start with a new, empty Kit
  • Reset Kit: load your saved Default Kit if available; otherwise return to the built-in Kit

Even when Reset Kit loads a Default Kit, the current name becomes NEW_KIT to help prevent accidentally overwriting the Default.

Automatic restoration

The device automatically saves its most recent state and restores it at the next startup. Samples recorded with the microphone are also saved temporarily when an SD card is inserted.

Warning

Samples recorded without an SD card cannot be restored after the power is turned off. For important recordings, insert an SD card and save them as a Project or Sample Kit.

Back up files to a computer
