Use it as a soundboard

Assign sound effects, jingles and calls to pads to trigger them precisely when needed.

No music knowledge is required. This is one of the easiest ways to start using KANTAN Sampler.

What you need

  • WAV or MP3 files to play
  • A microSD card to store the files
  • A computer or phone on the same Wi-Fi if uploading several files together

Descriptive filenames make short effects easier to find.

Examples: Doorbell.wav, Applause.wav, Correct.wav, Wrong.wav

1. Put sounds on the pads

To add a few sounds using only the device, Import them from empty pads.

Add a sample

File Editor is convenient for organizing and adding multiple sounds.

2. Prepare the sounds

For soundboard use, check these settings first:

  • Start: make the sound begin immediately when pressed
  • End: end where the required sound finishes
  • Volume: match the volume of the other effects
  • Hold: normally Off
  • Repeat: normally None

Edit a sample

3. Play in PLAY mode

  1. Select the SAMPLER part
  2. Switch to PLAY mode
  3. Press pads at the required moment

For soundboard use alone, you do not need a beat or Rec.

4. Save the sound set

To reuse the same combination later, save it with Save Sample Kit.

A sample kit saves the sounds and edit settings of the 12 sampler pads. It does not replace the beat, Rec, FX, Mixer or other settings.

Examples of separate Kits for events:

  • Streaming and videos
  • Quiz competitions
  • Stage shows and theater
  • In-store demonstrations

To save the entire performance state, including beat and Rec, save a Project instead of a sample kit.

Save Projects and sample kits

  4. Confirm that pressing the upper dial stops all sounds
  5. Save the sample kit or Project
