Record your full performance to WAV

Performance Recording saves the final performance audio—including the beat, sampler, Bass, Melody, Chord, FX, and Scratch—to a single WAV file.

This serves a different purpose from Rec, which records your pad performance into a Loop.

Function What it saves
Rec The timing of your pad presses. You can play back and edit the performance as a Loop later
Performance Recording The entire performance you hear through the speaker. You can listen to it as a WAV file

Preparation

  • Insert an SD card
  • If a song is loaded in Music Player, unload it with Remove Music
  • Prepare the beat, Rec Loop, and FX Target you want to record

Music Player and Performance Recording cannot be used at the same time.

1. Arm the recorder

  1. Press the lower dial to open the menu
  2. Set Project → Performance Recording to On
  3. Close the menu

A recording standby icon appears in the header, and Fn1 in PLAY or FX mode becomes the recording start button.

2. Start recording

Press Fn1 to start Loop playback and Performance Recording. A red recording icon in the header indicates that recording is in progress.

You can continue using the controls as usual while recording.

  • Play the pads
  • Switch parts
  • Change the arrangement with Mute or Mixer
  • Use Repeat, Filter, Delay, Tape Stop, Scratch, and other effects

3. Stop recording

Press Fn1 again to stop the Loop. Wait until the WAV file has finished writing.

When it is ready, TAP: SAVE / HOLD: DELETE appears.

4. Save or delete the recording

  • To save: press Fn1 briefly, then release it
  • To discard: hold Fn1 until the deletion gauge is full, then release it

The saved file goes into /sampler/recordings/ on the SD card with a name such as Performance_001.wav. You can Download, Rename, or Delete it in File Editor.

If you cannot record

  • NO SD FOR RECORDING: insert an SD card and check that it is recognized
  • REMOVE MUSIC FIRST: use Remove Music in Music Player
  • RECORDING UNAVAILABLE: check the SD card's free space and condition
  • RECORDING FAILED: restart the device and try another SD card as well
