Wi-Fi and Update

Wi-Fi is used for File Editor and firmware Update. You do not need to stay connected during normal performance.

Set up Wi-Fi with a smartphone

  1. Press the lower dial to open the menu
  2. Go to Wi-Fi → Wi-Fi Setup → Use Smartphone
  3. Scan the QR code on the device's screen with your smartphone
  4. Connect to kanplay-ap as shown
  5. Wait until the device's screen changes to the QR code for the setup page
  6. Scan the new QR code and submit the Wi-Fi name and Password for your home or other network
  7. Wait until the device displays the connection result

During setup, it is normal for your smartphone to report that there is no internet connection. Keep it connected to kanplay-ap.

Set up with WPS

For a WPS-compatible router, select Wi-Fi Setup → WPS and press the router's WPS button. Do not turn off the device until the connection result appears.

Check connection information

Use Wi-Fi → Wi-Fi Info to check the connection status and address.

Open File Editor

Select Wi-Fi → File Editor, then open the device's QR code or address on a computer or smartphone connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

Update the firmware

  1. Provide a stable power supply
  2. Connect to Wi-Fi
  3. Select Wi-Fi → Update
  4. Wait until the on-screen progress finishes and the device returns to the normal screen

When an update is available, a yellow UP! appears in the status bar.

Danger

After firmware writing starts, do not turn off the power or unplug the USB cable.

You can cancel using the device's controls at stages when it is safe to stop, such as while connecting or before the download starts. Controls are disabled once writing begins.

About Auto Update

When Wi-Fi → Auto Update is ON and a Wi-Fi network is saved, the device checks for updates while idle after startup. This setting does not install updates automatically. Run updates from Update.

If you cannot connect

  • Check that the computer or smartphone and the device are on the same Wi-Fi network
  • Avoid guest Wi-Fi networks and settings that block communication between devices
  • Move the device closer to the access point
  • Run Wi-Fi Setup again
  • If File Editor was open, close it using the device's controls, then reopen it
