Transform your sound with FX

In FX mode, you can add effects to a playing beat or Loop in real time. Start with Repeat and Filter, which are easy to hear and understand.

FX controls themselves are not recorded into Rec. If you use Performance Recording for the full performance, the final output—including FX—is saved to WAV.

1. Play a Loop

  1. Prepare a beat or a Loop recorded with Rec
  2. Press Fn1 to play it
  3. Press FX among the four black mode buttons

2. Choose the effect target

If no Music is loaded, choose from the following.

  • P9 BEAT: apply effects to the beat
  • P10 PARTS: apply effects to the sampler, Bass, Melody, and Chord

You can select both targets.

If Music is loaded, P9 becomes LIVE and P10 becomes MUSIC.

3. Try Repeat

While you hold P1–P4, a short segment of the preceding audio repeats.

Pad Length
P1 4 Grid
P2 2 Grid
P3 1 Grid
P4 0.5 Grid

Start with a brief press of P2, then try P3 and P4 for finer repetitions. Release the pad to return to normal playback.

4. Try Filter

  1. Hold P5 Filter
  2. Slowly turn the lower dial on the right
  3. Listen as the sound becomes muffled or thin
  4. Release P5 to return to the normal sound

For Filter, Gater, Crusher, and Delay, you can change the value by turning the dial, moving vertically on the screen, or tilting the device while holding the pad. Start with just the dial to make the controls easier to learn.

FX pad list

Pad FX Effect
P1–P4 Repeat Repeats audio in Grid units
P5 Filter Cuts low or high frequencies
P6 Gater Chops the sound into short segments
P7 Crusher Creates a rough digital sound
P8 Delay Adds echoes synchronized to the Grid
P9 / P10 Target Selects where FX are applied
P11 Tempo Speeds up or slows down like tape
P12 Tape Stop Slows to a stop like sudden braking

If you press multiple FX pads at the same time, the most recently pressed FX takes effect.

Open Mixer

Press Fn3 in FX mode to switch to Mixer. The Mixer display remains open until you press Fn3 again.

  • Press a Part pad briefly: Mute / Unmute that part's Rec
  • Hold a Part pad and turn the lower dial: change the part's volume
  • P9–P12: save / recall Mix 1–4

Mute in Mixer does not silence live playing. You can mute the recorded performance while playing the same pads by hand.
